Board Of Advisors
Franz is a native of Switzerland who has spent the last 35 years living between Europe and Canada. Franz Gehriger provides proficiency in many facets of international real estate investment, management, development and finance. He studied at the famous Swiss Business University of St. Gallen, and in Canada at the University of British Columbia. As captain in the Swiss Army, he received excellent leadership training. In the late 1970’s he was employed with a large Swiss bank, Credit Suisse, with responsibilities in international financing and taxation.
In 1979 he became President of Polaris Realty (Canada) Ltd. where he consolidated and diversified the company‘s portfolio of developments worth in excess of 500 million dollars across Canada.
As CEO of SwissReal Investments Ltd. his activities include developing and managing condominiums and industrial and commercial properties. His latest project, the iconic 31-storey commercial building at the heart of Vancouver‘s financial district, called “The Exchange” was completed in 2018.
Richard Bell, B.A., LL.B
Lawyer, Bell Alliance
Richard is a practicing lawyer and entrepreneur and the owner of Bell Alliance which has a team of 45 lawyers and support staff. In addition, Richard is the co-founder and Executive Chair of Avesdo, a point of sale technology for presale real estate. Avesdo technology processes over $10 billion across the platform annually in Canada with expansion to the U.S. in 2018.
Previously, Richard was the founding Chair of Invis, a Canadian mortgage broker and co-founder and President of Cervus Financial, a Canadian mono-line lender.
In addition to his business activities Richard is active in his community. He is currently the Chair of the Arts Club, Director of Small Housing B.C. and an Ambassador for World Housing.
Jeremy Billan, CFA
Director, Growth Equity - Growth & Transition Capital Prairies
Jeremy Billan is Director of Growth Equity in our Vancouver office. Jeremy has over a decade of successful experience as a value-added investor in the private equity and mid-market buyouts sectors. He has a tremendous track record in direct investments as well as mergers and acquisitions in a variety of industries such as manufacturing, distribution, industrials, consumer products and business services. He is involved on the board of his investee companies, including BID Group and Delco Automation.
Before joining BDC Capital, Jeremy was Managing Director at Appellation Capital, a venture capital and private equity firm. Before that, he was Vice President for Tricor Pacific Capital, a leading private equity firm for North American companies where he successfully executed 7 private equity investments with an aggregate value exceeding $600 million. He also worked as an Investment Banking Analyst for RBC Capital Markets, where he worked directly with senior bankers to complete $3.5 billion of mergers & acquisitions advisory mandates and capital market transactions. Jeremy is a CFA charter holder and a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business with a certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Amin is a serial entrepreneur and a visionary leader with a passion for Real Estate investment, finance and technology. Graduating with an advanced degree in Engineering from University of British Columbia, he started investing in Real Estate while in college. He worked at IBM as a management consultant for 12 years, advising major financial institutions such as banks and large insurance
companies on transformation strategies and enterprise change managements. During his tenure at IBM, he gained valuable insights about the investment and financial industry in the Canadian landscape.
Success of his investment strategies in Real Estate eventually led to widespread recognition in the community and in 2012 he joined forces with his long-term investment partner, to found Abana Capital Management. Amin brings a wealth of experience in Real Estate, finance, corporate governance and as Managing Partner shapes strategy and direction for Abana Capital.
Navid started his career in the software industry as founder of BITAA Technology in 2005 before graduating from Simon Fraser University in 2009. As founder and operator, Navid was instrumental in building the company from the ground-up and building teams, processes, and technology to manage the operations with fluidity and efficiency.
His next venture was Nautic Marketing, a marketing and portfolio management company specializing in Real Estate marketing for major development projects across Metro Vancouver. Combining his software and marketing background, Navid not only provided customized investment portfolio management solutions to developers and their investors, but also developed digital marketing plans and implemented sales strategies that ultimately lead to faster and higher sales compared to competition.
In 2015, Navid joined Abana where he leverages his extensive operational experience to oversee Abana’s internal processes, manage business development activities, and implement marketing strategies. Navid is also in charge of compliance and investor relations.
Erika Buzzolo joined Abana Capital as an accountant in 2017. She has over 14 years of book keeping experience combined. She prepares all the accounting work for Abana’s investment portfolio and plays a lead role in the preparation of audited financial statements, tax returns and investment reports and schedules to support financial reports to the board.
Sean Chan is a serial entrepreneur and has capital raising experience for more than 30 businesses. Holding advisory positions at multiple firms and 5 years of senior management experience at various ventures, he has helped many companies to fundraise and introduced to many accredited investors for. Sean’s entrepreneurial ventures namely EquitySoft Investments and BlueSeed Holdings has also provided him a unique insight into the world of private equity, pre-IPOs, venture capital, and the family office investment arena.
